Fell Foot staff and volunteers (not bunnies!) have been working really hard across the site to get the facilities up and running after the damage from the flooding. The shop and Boathouse Cafe have finally reopened – do come down to the café and test out our new menu.
The Lead Ranger and his team of volunteers have been continuing their vital work in our reedbed restoration project, to enhance and protect this very special wildlife habitat on the edge of Lake Windermere. They have been fencing off the lakeshore in a particularly sensitive area in the southern end of Fell Foot to ensure we can look after this section of reedbed for the future. The Ranger team are also in the midst of building a natural play area to enhance the current playground – come and have a go to test your balancing skills – we would love to know what you think
We are holding a Volunteer Taster Day at Fell Foot on the afternoon of Tuesday 26th April. If you want to get involved in the future of Fell Foot as we enter a crucial development phase in the Fell Foot Project, please book your place to come along and find out about volunteering opportunities – please contact Mindy Phillips on 01539531273 or Mindy.Phillips@nationaltrust.org.uk .
Fancy a go at canoeing? Join us for National Go Canoeing Week at Fell Foot on Saturday 28th May. As one of the only access points to Lake Windermere, Fell Foot is supporting National Go Canoeing Week this year. Come and join us and see how many miles you can clock up – we are aiming for enough miles to get us to Rio! Bring your own boat or hire one of ours.
If you are up for a bit of an adventure, join us over the weekends at May half term for family camping at Fell Foot on the shores of Windermere. This is a rare opportunity to pitch your tent in a beautiful spot. Spaces are very limited so we suggest families book early to avoid disappointment – 01539531273 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you require any more information or want to find out about other ways you can get involved at Fell Foot then please do give me a shout.
We look forward to seeing you at Fell Foot this year,
Kelley Sproston-Heath, Volunteering & Community Involvement Officer – email@example.com
