Fell Foot Local Neighbourhood Newsletter

Happy New Year! We do hope that everyone has managed to avoid or recover from the worst of the severe weather we have been having. Unfortunately we flooded badly for the second time at Fell Foot in December – the team of staff and volunteers were out in hats and bringing forth festive cheer as they continued the clean up from the storms. We will do everything we can to have the park open in some capacity for the new season in February half term – but please do bear with us as it will take time to get the facilities back up and running.

Apologies for having to cancel the Local Neighbourhood Drop-in session on the 9th December. We just felt with all of the severe weather warnings and impacts from the flooding that it was best to reschedule – we hope you can come along instead on Wednesday 3rd February at Staveley-in-Cartmel Village Hall between 4pm and 6pm. Following approval for our plans in the Fell Foot Project at the LDNPA Planning Committee on the 7th October, we are now working on the first package of the project with our architects to get the detailed designs ready for the new Water Sports Facilities. We will provide a timetable of these works at the drop-in session. This an opportunity to find out more information about the detail of our future plans in respect of the water sports facilities and a chance for us to listen to your views, which we can formally feed back into the Project Team. We can also confirm the provisional timetable around the rest of the phases of the project.

We are still interested in hearing from any local people who would like to take on the Fell Foot Local Neighbourhood Advisor role. This is a volunteer role and would involve 1-1 meetings with the Fell Foot team to give us another avenue to hear local views and discuss the impact of day to day operations and Project work on the local community. If you are interested and would like to find out more information, then please do get in touch with Kelley Sproston-Heath, Volunteering & Community Involvement Officer – kelley.sprostonheath@nationaltrust.org.uk

If you have any questions about any of the information included in this newsletter, please do get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you at fell Foot in 2016!

Best wishes,

Kelley
